How to Store Snow Machines After the Ski Season Ends

When the ski season wraps up, proper storage of snow machines directly determines their snow-making efficiency and service life in the coming year. Follow these five steps to ensure your equipment stays in top condition during the off-season.

Step 1: Thorough Cleaning
Before storage, give the snow machine a full wash-down. Remove each nozzle and nucleator individually and rinse them with clean water. Use a high-pressure water gun to flush the filter screen, making sure no scale or debris remains that could cause blockages next season.

Step 2: Drain All Residual Water
This is the most critical step. After shutdown, cut off the water supply first and let the air compressor run for 3–5 minutes to blow out any remaining water in the pipelines using high-pressure airflow. Also drain residual water from the high-pressure pump through the drain valve, then seal both the inlet and outlet to prevent pipeline cracking from freezing in low temperatures.

Step 3: Lubrication & Maintenance
Apply grease to all rotating parts and bearings. Lubricate the sealing rings with machine oil to prevent rust. Replace the compressor oil according to the maintenance schedule to ensure smooth operation next season.

Step 4: Electrical System Inspection
Conduct a full check of power connections, control cables, and sealing conduits. Replace any loose or damaged components promptly to avoid electrical failures when restarting the machine.

Step 5: Proper Warehouse Storage
Move the equipment into a dry, well-ventilated warehouse away from direct sunlight. Reduce tire pressure to below 0.25 MPa and lift the tires off the ground so they bear no load. Cover the machine with a dust cover, shut off all power and water supply valves, and disconnect the power cord.

Check the equipment periodically during storage. By following these steps, your snow machines will be ready to deliver stable, high-quality snow output when the next ski season kicks off.
