Securing a reliable water source is often the first major hurdle in building a ski resort. Some resorts drill wells in the mountains, others divert water from nearby rivers, and some draw directly from major rivers. Water availability and quality vary drastically from site to site. If snowmaking machines are too picky about water quality and temperature, upfront infrastructure costs can skyrocket. Let’s start with well water. Groundwater typically has a stable temperature and low impurity levels, making it ideal for snowmaking. Wanfeng snow guns feature internationally standardized pure brass nucleators and nozzles, along with a built-in filtration system. This means well water can be used directly without the need for complex, costly water treatment.

River water is a different story. It often carries high levels of suspended solids, and its quality fluctuates with the seasons. Standard snow guns easily clog under these conditions. To solve this, Wanfeng snow guns are equipped with a 100-mesh filtration system at the water inlet, and the nucleator orifices have been specially optimized. This ensures excellent atomization while preventing clogs, meaning river water can be used after basic settling.

Major rivers present yet another set of challenges: massive water volume but high sand content.
